Native Fish

Most of the fish species in Arizona are non-native. They were introduced in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Out of the list above, the only native fish to Arizona are:

• Apache Trout
• Gila Trout
• Desert Sucker
• Roundtail Chub

The Apache and Gila trout are currently listed as "threatened" on the Federal Endangered List. So although you can fish for them, there are certain restrictions and guidelines you must follow.
